Exploring Port Digitalisation and Green Transition at TOC Europe 2026 in Hamburg

On 19–20 May 2026, the DigiTechPort2030 consortium gathered in Hamburg, Germany, for a two-day project event organised alongside the TOC Europe Conference — one of the leading international events dedicated to ports, terminals, logistics, automation, and digital transformation in the maritime sector.

The first day of the event focused on participation in the TOC Europe Conference at Hamburg Messe, where project partners had the opportunity to engage with industry representatives, technology providers, port authorities, and experts from across the global maritime sector. Throughout the day, the consortium followed discussions and presentations related to port digitalisation, automation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and data-driven decision-making — all highly relevant to the ongoing activities of DigiTechPort2030.

The conference provided valuable inspiration and practical insights connected to the green and digital transition of small and medium-sized ports in the South Baltic region. Particular attention was given to emerging approaches supporting operational efficiency, terminal automation, electrification, and the integration of digital tools into port management and logistics processes.

Participation in TOC Europe also created an important opportunity to further promote the DigiTechPort2030 project among international stakeholders and strengthen connections with organisations active in maritime innovation, sustainability, and smart port development. Partners exchanged experiences, explored future cooperation opportunities, and discussed how the project’s pilot activities and technical solutions could contribute to broader discussions on the future of sustainable port operations.

On the second day, project partners continued discussions during an internal consortium meeting hosted at the Akquinet Headquarters in Hamburg. The meeting focused on ongoing implementation activities, progress within Work Packages 3 and 4, dissemination planning, and coordination of upcoming project tasks during the expected prolongation period.

The Hamburg meeting once again demonstrated the importance of combining technical project work with active participation in international maritime events, ensuring that DigiTechPort2030 remains connected to current industry developments and stakeholder needs across the Baltic Sea Region and beyond.
