The DigiTechPort2030 project has been officially approved for prolongation by the Joint Secretariat and Managing Authority, extending the project implementation period until 31 March 2027.
The extension marks an important opportunity for the project partnership to continue its work towards the digital and green transformation of small and medium-sized ports across the South Baltic region.
Since its launch in September 2023, DigiTechPort2030 has brought together partners from academia, industry, ports and regional organisations to develop and test practical solutions supporting port decarbonisation, digitalisation and sustainable operations. The project builds on the achievements of the previous Connect2SmallPorts initiative and focuses on strengthening knowledge and capacity for the green transition of small and medium-sized ports.
The additional time will allow the partnership to further develop and consolidate the project’s activities, strengthen cooperation between partners and stakeholders, and maximise the impact and long-term value of the solutions and knowledge developed through the project.
Among the project’s ongoing activities are pilot solutions for greener and more efficient port operations, digital tools and methodologies, knowledge exchange, and the transfer of good practices across the South Baltic region. Recent milestones include the operational deployment of a Port Digital Twin in Klaipėda and the integration of a new greenhouse gas emissions calculation methodology to support data-driven monitoring of port-related emissions.
With the project now continuing until 31 March 2027, the DigiTechPort2030 partnership looks forward to using this additional time to strengthen the results achieved so far and continue working towards more digital, innovative and sustainable small and medium-sized ports.
