DigiTechPort2030 at the Baltic Ports Conference & Partner Events in Gdańsk and Gdynia (6–9 October 2025)

The first week of October brought the DigiTechPort2030 partners together in Gdańsk and Gdynia for a series of inspiring events that connected research, innovation, and real-world maritime practice. The programme combined the Baltic Ports Organization (BPO) Conference, the BaltExpo Exhibition, and the project’s Partner Meeting, offering valuable opportunities for exchange and collaboration within the Baltic port community.

The week began on 6 October with a welcoming evening reception at the Museum of the Second World War in Gdańsk Główny, creating a warm and reflective start to the gathering.

On 7 October, partners joined the Baltic Ports Organization Conference (BPO) at AmberExpo, where the DigiTechPort2030 project was publicly presented to a wide audience of port authorities, maritime professionals, and policymakers. The presentation highlighted the project’s goals to accelerate the digital and green transition of small and medium-sized ports across the Baltic Sea, drawing strong interest from the conference participants.

In connection with the conference, the consortium also visited BaltExpo – the 23rd International Maritime and Military Fair, where partners explored cutting-edge maritime technologies, sustainable innovations, and digital solutions shaping the sector’s future.

The following day, 8 October, continued with the BPO sessions focused on sustainability, port resilience, and digitalization. In the afternoon, participants took part in a study visit and boat tour through the Port of Gdańsk, starting from the Rybackie Quay and passing key areas such as the Grain, Rudowe, and Węglowe Quays, the Naftoport, and the Baltic Hub – the largest and most modern container terminal in the Baltic Sea. The tour offered valuable insights into port operations, infrastructure, and green energy development, directly linking to the project’s objectives.

The week concluded on 9 October at the Pomorski Park Naukowo-Technologiczny (PPNT) in Gdynia, where partners gathered to review project progress and plan upcoming activities. Discussions focused on communication, pilot development, and long-term cooperation strategies to support digital and sustainable port transformation.

During the meeting at Pomorski Park Naukowo-Technologiczny (PPNT) in Gdynia, partners reviewed the project’s second-year progress and discussed upcoming priorities across several key work packages.

The sessions included:

  • A communication and dissemination workshop led by Motus Foundation, focusing on improving visibility and partner collaboration within WP2 and WP4. Partners agreed to continue integrating results from previous initiatives, such as Connect to Small Ports, to strengthen continuity and outreach.
  • A WP3 technical update by Blekinge Institute of Technology, presenting progress on the Swedish and Polish pilot activities related to port electrification and energy simulation using CHESSCON software.
  • A discussion on Deliverable 2.3 under WP4, focusing on knowledge capitalization and the development of a consistent dissemination framework.
  • The Steering Committee meeting, chaired by the Lead Partner (Hochschule Wismar), where partners reviewed project management aspects, deliverables, and budgets, and agreed to propose a six-month project prolongation until March 2027.

These sessions were productive and forward-looking, reinforcing DigiTechPort2030’s commitment to collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement as the consortium enters the next phase of implementation.

Overall, the event series successfully combined external engagement, knowledge exchange, and strategic collaboration — strengthening DigiTechPort2030’s network and visibility in the Baltic maritime community. A warm thank-you to all partners, stakeholders, and the Baltic Ports Organization for an inspiring and productive week!
