DigiTechPort2030 was represented by the Motus Foundation at the Baltic Ports Conference 2026 in Turku, Finland. Hosted by the Port of Turku, the conference brought together port and maritime professionals from across the Baltic Sea region to discuss the future of ports and the challenges and opportunities shaping the maritime sector.
Under the theme “One Large Green Shipping Corridor”, the conference addressed some of the key issues currently facing ports, including the development of green shipping corridors, decarbonisation, biodiversity, resilience and the changing role of ports in a rapidly evolving maritime environment. The programme provided valuable insights into both the challenges ahead and practical approaches to making ports more sustainable and resilient.
The event also included a boat tour of Turku, offering participants an opportunity to experience the city from the water and connect in a more informal setting while gaining a different perspective on its maritime environment.
For DigiTechPort2030, the conference provided an opportunity to present the project and share its work with representatives of the port and maritime community. During the event, project materials and factsheets supporting the green transition of ports and terminals were presented, alongside case studies from the DigiTechPort2030 pilot sites, including Euro Terminal, Klaipėda Port, the Port of Karlshamn and the Port of Elbląg.
The conference provided a valuable setting for exchanging experiences and discussing the practical challenges faced by ports and terminals in their transition towards greener and more sustainable operations. The discussions in Turku highlighted the relevance of the themes addressed by DigiTechPort2030 and the importance of continued cooperation and knowledge-sharing across the Baltic Sea region.
