From 23–25 September, DigiTechPort2030 was represented at the XXI Marine Traffic Engineering Conference (MTE 2026) in Maritime University of Szczecin, bringing together researchers and maritime professionals to exchange knowledge on marine traffic engineering, navigation, safety, sensors and digital technologies.
The project team contributed to the conference with a presentation of the research “Development and validation of a low-cost energy efficiency sensor for cargo-handling equipment.” The work focuses on the development and validation of a low-cost sensor system designed to collect operational data from cargo-handling equipment, supporting the development and calibration of an Energy Twin for Euro Terminal.
The presentation was delivered by Stefan Jankowski , with support from Marcin Przywarty and Mateusz Bilewski (Maritime University of Szczecin). The work was developed together with Lawrence Henesey (Blekinge Institute of Technology), Laima Gerlitz (Hochschule Wismar) and Joanna Morawska (Euro Terminal).
The study demonstrates how combining low-cost monitoring technologies with operational data can help reconstruct cargo-handling equipment activity and provide valuable information for energy-efficiency analysis. The approach is particularly relevant for small and medium-sized ports looking for practical, data-driven solutions to support their green and digital transition.
